Here we are again with another racing-themed update! The biggest highlight, though, has to be Slipsy's almost 140+ Team Fortress 2 weapons and other assorted things. On the racing side, CrispyShroom brought us every remaining track from Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's Booster Course Pass and Superstarxalien brought just about every map in Crash Team Racing! Meanwhile, there's also Skylanders, Star Wars Episode I, Castlevania, Nanoha... too much great stuff to list here. Be sure to check out the dozens of new custom models as well!

This month's model tip is... don't trust material colors! Some models, especially those from old games or with very cartoony art styles, often use solid colors instead of textures. It's a lot quicker to set up than painting a texture, so even modern 3D artists use them. However, not all modeling programs can use these colors or use them the same way. Take Blender, for example... when it exports material colors, the colors turn out a lot darker than they should be. This is why we ask submitters to turn those solid colors into simple little textures, so that the colors always remain available and true.

Enjoy!

@Peardian The uploader would benefit from that, let's say an active developer wants to add to the site without being publicly related to it; I'm not saying you should scrub all the info, I was thinking more of just not showing the user name if requested, but I get it.

@scurest I see now, for some reason, my brain mistook Export with Import, my bad.

@Inferry: No, anonymous submission is not possible. What would be the benefit in that? If the submission had a problem, we'd have no idea who to contact.

@Inferry Blender writes MTL colors in linear space, everyone else uses sRGB. So colors exported from Blender will look too dark in other programs since sRGB->linear decreases color values.

I would have to see an example of the Blender issue because I don't understand what you mean by that, but at the risk of being wrong, I would say it is mostly because people pass everything through the default Principled BSDF shader, which is not what you have to do if you want to render solid colors, instead, you ignore the shader and connect your color directly to the material output.

You also have to tick some options here and there, but most of the time that should suffice. I don't know about other programs, so the suggestion still stands.

Also, is it possible to submit anonymously?

Yeah. And it's very sad that the Wallace and Gromit: The Grand Getaway game got removed too
