@sametdze Didn't you notice that they change when he's in the water (change from fists to open hands)?

I am currently working on a custom model of Luigi, I currently have the textures done and I might also make a Bowser. Jr and Toadette model.

Customs are indeed allowed but they need to very clearly be customs inspired by the original design and not just 1:1 copies or barely edited exports. We have already rejected "custom" submissions that were all but straight rips from the leaks and we will continue to do so.

You are fully allowed to make a custom Luigi in the style of the SM64 models

If you wanna upload the leaks, don't. It's easier to go to the custom section and publish custom models of Luigi and stuff.

Sigh... I guess you can ban the leaked models if its for the good of this website The personal information of the employees is wrong but the assets of the models and sprites is where it is confusing. What is the situation regarding recreated models or sprites that are almost identical to the leaked assets but didn't come from the leaks. The preservation project is a recreation of the spaceworld 95 demo of the game and with the Actual beta mario from the leak, the only difference between that and the final game is that his hair is lower poly, and the beta mario model from the preservation project looks exactly the same but was made before the leaks. And then we got sprites of beta yoshi, however a couple years ago we got a picture of beta sprites of yoshi. And people recreated the sprites and we got the actual beta sprites in the leak, so would recreating the sprites pixel by pixel Technically be legal. What I'm saying is that The beta yoshi sprites are up in the custom section because we got a picture of the sprites on a computer taken by Nintendo. however the real sprites were leaked. So wouldn't the yoshi sprites technically be an exception but everything else is illegal. Whatever If people really want these models there are tools that came with the leak that can convert the sou files to ply, I am not giving the links because I don't want nintendo coming after me. The whole legality depends on your whole moral view. This was stolen so you could consider it illegal but If you copy it pixel by pixel like I said I could technically recreate it. There and valid excuses the people could make up with this type of stuff. There is even whole articles about the morality of this leak. I don't blame you for thinking this is illegal but at the same time I understand where people are coming from when they say they think these leaks are okay. I tried the dissect this drama and I doubt there will be more in the future. The reason the caused a major drama is because you had a firm stance about a subject that is highly controversial. People argue is it legal is it not.

Again, this isn’t even just about morality. It’s the fact that this was a very public leak obtained illegally and Nintendo is following it closely. As it is now, we operate in a gray area and don’t want to take part in anything so overtly illegal as it is much better for us to stay on Nintendo’s good side than it is to have a few extra models.

And yes, it is also a morality thing. Much more than assets were released and as I said, more overtly illegally than simply ripping the data from a purchased game so enough already. We won’t be uploading it - stop asking.

@Random Talking Bush If you want, you could also add a warning label somewhere at the top of the page telling people not to upload the beta prototype models.

Just because other people/sites don't care about the morality of the whole situation doesn't mean that we should just upload literally-stolen content.

@nonesuchriver it’s safer not to upload it.

Lol this is ridiculous, literally every other site that hosts sprites are hosting sprites and from the leaks, and even the wikipedia, Yes the official wikipedia has information from the leak regarding super mario 64's exact development time which was found in the leak. And yet everyone in this website is acting like the leaks are $600,000,000 projects from area 51. You can do whatever you want i'm just pointing out.

For everyone here, please do NOT submit Luigi or any of the models from that beta prototype, here's why
1. It's not even in the actual game so why rip it
2. It was stolen in a server breach and probably illegal, If you upload those models, Nintendo will Nuke us.
Nintendo would take down the entire site and all the models on this site will be gone!!!, and nobody wants that. No one wants to get caught in Nintendo's crosshairs.
3. Just make a custom model in the style of the SM64 models.

@NintenSwitch you can make a custom model of Luigi in the style of the Super Mario 64 models.
Avatar
Aug 11, 2020, 11:28 PM
@NintenSwitch It's not gonna happen, the way Luigi's model was obtained is highly questionable and probably illegal. No one wants to get caught in Nintendo's crosshairs, so it's best not to submit Luigi's model.
