I've asked around for a Discord server for New Horizons file ripping/modding but haven't had any response. If there was one I'd love to hop on and discover/discuss things with others. But I'm not ready to commit to authoring a server, I have enough on my plate.

@sunnist - I'm not familiar with how to do this in Maya but the math is the same.

@KirbyDreamLand - Creating custom textures would take a lot of work, having to reconstruct the face and it's UVs, and then combining the textures into one -- pretty messy but doable with a lot of time. To me it doesn't seem worth the hassle... if you're getting into this stuff, as I've learned, you need to be willing to learn these potentially complicated things. I come from years of 3D art and 3D technical study for game production, so it was a little easier for me to pick up how they have things set up for their game. If my thread confuses you then, with highest respects for you, you may need to take some more time learning the software and processes, as I don't have the time to spell everything out step by step. But if there was a Discord server for this stuff, I'd be happy to help point you in the right direction. I'm new to all this game file ripping stuff, but at least I have a strong 3D background to help me out. And honestly just sitting and clicking around with these game models is a huge educator for me on its own -- just poking around at things and exploring how they've set it all up. Fascinating stuff!

@nimaid - Of course! :) I'd love to help out further if I can be of any assistance. A Discord server would be super helpful.

@nimaid @Penguinburger, you guys are amazing. Could anybody show us how to set up players' textures in maya please?

The method to assemble them is too complicated and confusing.
Can't you guys provide custom textures for easy use?

@KirbyDreamLand @LeoLuster I think I got it mostly figured out (in Blender). Took me some fiddling. Go to this thread for some information and material node screenshots, hope it helps!

@KirbyDreamLand No clue, but it seems to be difficult to do from what I hear.

How you guys assemble the facial textures for the player model?
It's a lot messy if compared to the npcs.

Same! I really want to get and explore how the models work in this game.

Is there any new methods of extracting and finding the models in Animal crossing? The old method is way to confusing and I couldn't find the NCA. :( Im trying to get the penguin models

For anyone looking for the building models or anything like that. I'd recommend watching this video. It's called 'Boundary Break' and it gives you a pretty good look at the models in the game

Was hoping to find the tickets here. Don't guess those are sprites in game? Surely not?
I wanna make some 3D renders involving NMT's

@4Bakers: it says right in the comment box before you start typing that this isn't the place to make requests.

"Umm, well this is gonna be tricky to port over...

Revision: Yes, I did double check the folder it came in for others, but it seems that Wilbur was the only one included, not Orville as well..."

I think both are the same 3D model, just one doesn't have the sunglasses on!

I figured that Wilbur and Orville would share the same models since they're meant to be twins.
It's like Timmy and Tommy, except that one of them talks like a cranky villager and wear glasses.

@Kandi: That's because as Weirdkid_12 mentioned, they both share the same base model (just with different accessories), so if you want only one set you'll need to load up the model in a program like Blender and delete the polygon groups you won't be using.

@Kandi they have the exact same model. The only difference is the glasses, so to get orville, you remove the glasses
