That would be fine, yes. Blender files are allowed as extra files for custom models (don't worry about it being flagged).

acculy me might just shove the .blend file with it for reference so if they wanted to shove it into another project they could just reference the .blend file

Sketchup is easier to get into but lacks functionality while Blender is the opposite. 'Nuff said.

3D Blender is now acceptable to go hardcore with the models, @Jimii_Games. You just need to know the hotkeys, shortcut keys, and how subdivision works, bevel, ring-loop, etc. works [Most importantly, topology, triangles, and squares] and watch it go crazy cool whilst you model.

Heck, they even use 3D Blender to make Solid Snake's knife for Project M and other projects! It's saying a lot atm.
