@RandomTalkingBush: thanks for that. That's actually super interesting as it gets rid of another theory I had (that Bullser was just a concept while they were figuring out Bowser's actual design, hailing from the Ox King anime Miyamoto was inspired by) the actual source - the inflatable tube - features the proper design of Bowser as well. Wonder what about "beach equipment" made them think "Make Bowser as a bull chasing Mario"
Thanks for finding the source as it was bothering me that the Wiki was so vague about it

@PeachesCastle i think that artwork is based on bowser's desing in Mario is missing (NES version) because in that game, bowser looks like a cow, or bull.
