@TheNotoriousCat as Weirdkid_12 said, they use both. there are multiple different mouth models but also there are bones on the rig that can control some of not all of them. really glad we got real face rigs. gonna be optimizing octoling models for animations (a.e more subdivision, metarig, ect) and upload to wherever the custom model area is when done. might upgrade the face rig as well

@Desper_Octo You can create a new category when submitting a model.

About another model of the same type being submitted before that, I wouldn't worry. If the category name happens to be different they can just remove the duplicate category.

The Mario gang 3D models (excluding Yoshi) are not similar to 3D World. They are more similar to the models found in Mario Tennis Ultra Smash and Super Mario Odyssey.

Yoshi's model might be unique because his eyelids are seperate meshes, where you can achieve something like this:
