I generally prefer there to be both types available rather than just treated the "higher end" version as "definitive."
Especially with games like the Harry Potter ones and the later Sonic ones, where for all intents and purposes they are completely different games.

Games such as the Monsters vs. Aliens game and Transformers: The Game have options to change the details of models so you can either use the PS3/Xbox 360 or PS2/Wii versions, as well as editing aspect ratio or texture resolutions
