@Dolphman Because only CERTAIN books for Sherlock are public domain because of Elizabeth when these games were originally written very many years ago. That means if they had kept only his gloomy and serious personality more in line with the first few books, they would have no issues. But giving him character development, making him more 'human,' could have been a conflict of interest in the publishing industry, as the books where Doyle's Sherlock was a little more 'human' were being desperately clung to with hopes of retaining them and continuing to bank on them.
